All the spinning...

We went to the Western Idaho State Fair on Thursday. It was tons of fun. We saw some African acrobats, a comedian/magician, the livestock, the "shortest horse around" (for a small fee of 50cents), and then we rode the rides at the carnival until we were blue in the face. I came home with a headache and all I could say was, "Oh all the spinning!" The previous night we had fun spinning the cat on our office chair and then watching as she stepped off the chair and fell on her face. When I got off one particular ride I told Wayne, "Remember last night when we spun the cat, well I think I have some idea of how she felt afterward."

I got the biggest kick out of the kid in front of me in the ride to the left of this text. I am the one in the white socks since I took my shoes off for this ride. The kid in front of me was about 8 or 9 years old. Every three seconds he kept yelling "Look Mom NO HANDS!!!!" I kept thinking I am sure that your mom is thrilled that you are buckled into a seat and you aren't holding on to anything. If you look closely you can see him.




Then today I went to the eye doctor to find out why I haven't been able to wear my contacts without pain. Well I must be special because the expensive brand and style of contact that I bought last time have a rare effect on certain people in that it causes their cornea to stretch. I am one of those chosen people. Everyone said that the type that I have is much much better for your eyes than the cheaper ones that I am used to. The eye doctor said that I will be going back to my old style of contacts as soon as my eyes heal in about a week. Yippee. I will finally be able to wear my contacts again since it has been over a month since I have been able to comfortably wear contacts. It is a big deal to me.

Life with Blight, sorta

I cannot begin to explain the roller coaster of emotions that I have gone through in the past week and a half.

I believe that my tomato plant has the disease of Blight. I feel like my life has Blight too.

Wayne received a letter stating that his previous employer was appealing his unemployment claim. They had apparently sent an appeal within 4 hours of the deadline. Anyways so the hearing was scheduled for about a week away. We had to prepare a case that he was fired but not for employment related misconduct. We spent the better part of the week preparing for that. We made a statement and came up with some questions to ask the employer's representative and Wayne's previous boss (who was kind of an idiot). The hearing was on the 6th in the morning. The hearing went horribly. Advice to anyone who has legal anythings going on- HAVE AN ATTORNEY ON YOUR SIDE!!!! I cried and cried after the hearing. I felt empty and angry inside and helpless besides. If the appeals examiner decided that the Dept of Labor has erroneously given us unemployment then we would be subject to full repayment of all that we had been paid. If the examiner found that Wayne was fired for other reasons than misconduct we would get the full amount of his unemployment claim. In the meantime on Tuesday Wayne's folks came over to visit us. They spent Thurs and Friday with us.

On Thursday we went to the Idaho Historical Museum downtown and also Julia Davis Park with the beautiful rose gardens there. We had a blast on Thursday. It was good to forget about the predicament that we found ourself in. I will post a few good pictures of the rose garden.

Friday I went to work, and late in the afternoon I get a call from Wayne saying that he got the letter from the appeals examiner stating that her decision was that Wayne was fired but not for employment related misconduct and that we would continue to receive unemployment until the allotted amount of time originally determined. I was SO relieved!!! I just kept saying that I was so surprised that we had won and that things would be okay.

This has been an answer to prayers. I keep telling myself that things are going to get better soon. In the meantime just try to enjoy the view, right?
